Jay Barney - Bank One Chair in Corporate Strategy, Fisher College of Business
Jay received his undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University, and his master's and doctorate from Yale University. He taught at the Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA and Texas A&M University before joining the faculty at The Ohio State University in 1994 where Professor Barney teaches organizational strategy and policy, focusing on the relationship between firm skills and capabilities and sustainable competitive advantage, to MBA and Ph.D. students.
Jeff Bell - Former Vice President of Global Marketing for Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment Business
For 20 years, Jeff Bell has been growing and turning around businesses in Corporate America. Most recently, as Microsoft's Corporate Vice President of Global Marketing for the Interactive Entertainment Business, Jeff was responsible for leading Xbox to its first profitable year, and launching the Games for Windows business. On the creative front, Jeff's team has produced the launch campaigns for Gears of War, Halo 3, Guitar Hero, Rock Band, Scene it! And Grand Theft auto IV, and implemented the first global and vertically integrated Xbox marketing campaign. Before Microsoft, Jeff was largely credited with helping revitalize the Dodge, Jeep and Chrysler businesses, returning them to profitability in a significant turnaround from 2000-2006 with the Dodge Ram, Jeep 4-door Wrangler and the Chrysler 300 product launches. Jeff's efforts around social media, web, direct marketing and video games led to Jeff being named Interactive Marketer of the Year in 2005 by Advertising Age.
Michael Butler - Former President and Chief Distribution Officer of Nationwide Fund Distributors, LLC
Michael joined NCT as a Venture Partner on June 1, 2009. He joins us from Nationwide Fund Distributors, LLC where he served as President and Chief Distribution Officer. In that role he was responsible for distribution for all Nationwide funds. During his 20-year tenure at Nationwide, Michael also served as Vice-President, Mutual Fund Strategy; Senior Vice-President, Qualified Plan Sales; and Manager of their independent broker dealer channel comprised of 85 field-based financial services wholesalers. Prior to his career with Nationwide, Michael served as CFO for an Ohio-based manufacturing and distribution company and as a Senior Consultant with Ernst & Whinney. Additional career highlights include business development/sales management for numerous business units, acquisitions/divestures of customers and competition, and formation of strategic partnerships. Michael holds an MBA from Ashland University and a BS in Accounting from The Ohio State University. Michael’s affiliations include CPA, CLU, ChFC and CFS, as well as insurance and securities licenses. To date, he sat on the Boards of 17 companies and is actively involved with the United Way of Central Ohio, Boys & Girls Clubs, Childhood League Center, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Central Ohio and Easter Seals.
Ed Cohn - Former Executive Vice-President of Unizan Bank
Ed was responsible for Corporate Risk Assurance and Corporate Planning, which includes Strategic Planning, Risk Management, Legal, Loan Administration and Collective Workouts. Ed has over 20 years of experience in the banking industry and received his B.S.B.A. Degree in both Finance and Accounting from The Ohio State University. Ed also serves as CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio, Inc.
Rob Deutschman – Managing Director, Cappello Capital Corp.
Rob Deutschman has specialized in investment and merchant banking activities for nearly 20 years, with a particular emphasis on executing private placements of institutional capital for growing public and private companies. Prior to joining Cappello, Mr. Deutschman was Managing Director of Saybrook Capital Corp. where he focused on corporate finance, venture capital and defaulted/troubled municipal bond issues and related workouts and restructurings.
David Fischer – President, IP&S – Americas for Greif
David is currently Senior Vice President, IP&S – Americas for Greif and has been with the Company since 2004. Prior to Greif, David was with Dow Chemical where he served as business vice president for the Polyurethanes business. David joined Dow in 1986, working in several business groups and holding positions of increasing responsibility. David earned a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University where he studied chemistry and physics.
Pat Norton – Former CFO, The Scotts Co.
Pat led Barefoot Grass through a dynamic growth period that made it the second-largest lawn care company in the country before its acquisitions by TruGreen-ChemLawn in 1996. Mr. Norton remains on Scotts' board of directors and serves as a consultant to the rapidly growing Scotts Lawn Service particularly in the areas of financial strategy, financial reporting and investor relations.
Ira Sharfin – President and CEO, Continental Office Environments
Ira has been with Continental since 2005, running a regional furniture and services company with over $140 million in sales. Prior to Continental, he was a consulting partner for 16 years with PricewaterhouseCoopers Consulting and IBM Consulting. Ira's main areas of focus were mergers and acquisitions, supply chain management and corporate restructuring. Ira has a bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan in Industrial Engineering.
